So much stuff in this strip. I love it.

Starship Troopers is something of a cult hit around my school, and the marathon we held when Starship Troopers 3 was released didn't help things. It was at the point where we'd occasionally break into song in the middle of school. Good times!

First off, let me note that the lyrics are taken from "It's A Good Day To Die," a musical number that appeared in Starship Troopers 3. (Full lyrics available online, along with music.)

Secondly. The third-fourth strips (with the flag in the background) are, as you may be surprised to know, almost identical to the style of the public service announcements in the actual films. The background flag is the Federation flag, and was made by me, from scratch, as there are very few images of it online, much less good ones. The black banner on top is also in the style of the PSAs, down to the metallic stars (which had to be made from scratch, too). Lastly, the weapons the five wield are CGI meshes of the Morita assault rifle, the same prop used in the first film.

The text in the last panel is in the familiar "Starship Troopers" font, which is briefly seen in various Federation contexts in the films. The fact that the line is not delivered by any one character is intentional; the assumption is that it is a chorus (which has happened before, might I note).

Lastly, the title (tlhIngan maH!) is a Klingon battlecry, which is particularly appropriate, given that the title and theme of the song (Today Is A Good Day To Die) was created as the archetypal Klingon warcry for the original Star Trek series.

Phew. That was a lot. Bot worth it.
