This is somewhat a follow-on of Wednesday's strip. Which begs the question: fun job as lackey, or high-paying job as professional fall guy? Presumably, the compensation you'd receive for dealing with Exxon Valdez-levels of blame would be high enough for you to retire in luxury; not bad at all. The lackey position lets you get off from blame (use the Nuremberg defense, of course), and lets you poke toxic waste. Waffles win any day.
